RoHS testing certification

Feb 09, 2024

What does RoHS mean?

RoHS certification is a mandatory standard developed by the European Union legislation, its full name is the "Directive on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electronic and electrical equipment" (Restriction of Hazardous Substances). The standard has been officially implemented on July 1, 2006, mainly used to regulate the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, so that it is more conducive to human health and environmental protection.

RoHS certification is the European environmental protection directive, which stipulates that all electronic and electrical products exported to Europe shall not contain the following ten toxic and harmful substances: Lead Pb, Mercury Hg, cadmium Cd, hexavalent chromium Cr(VI), polybrominated biphenyls PBBs, polybrominated biphenyl ethers PBDEs, dibutyl phthalate DEHP, dibutyl phthalate DBP, butylbenzyl phthalate BBP, diisobutyl phthalate DIBP. The content of cadmium should not exceed 0.01%.

RoHS latest standard/ROHS 2.0

10 EU RoHS2.0 tests (2011/65/EU), which is the latest RoHS standard; On July 21, 2011, the revised version of the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) replaced the six items of the old RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC).

In May 2022, the EU published A proposal process for restricted substances under the RoHS Directive, which plans to include medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) and tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBP-A) in the list of restricted substances, which relevant companies can pay close attention to and prepare for compliance in advance.
