What is the damp heat test?
Damp heat test is a necessary project for the detection of solar photovoltaic panels, damp heat chamber is the special equipment for performing damp heat test.
Due to long-term exposure, solar photovoltaic modules are required to carry out damp heat test, humidity-freeze test, thermal cycle test, etc., to confirm that the components can withstand the random effects of zero temperature after high temperature and humidity. For the attenuation and aging caused by repeated temperature changes, it is also necessary to determine the ability of solar cells to resist long-term moisture penetration.
Damp heat test is designed to determine the suitability of components, equipment, or other items for use, transport, and storage under conditions of high humidity – combined with circulating temperature changes that typically produce condensation on the surface of the specimen. If the test is used to verify the performance of the sample when it is transported or stored in packaging, packaging is usually installed when the test conditions are applied.
Before testing, the sample is introduced into the chamber in an unpacked, closed, ready for use state, or other specified state. When there are no specific installation requirements, the heat transfer of the installation is low. This is to thermally isolate the sample.

The test standard against which the damp heat test is based?
IEC 61215 is an industry standard that defines the design and qualification of silicon photovoltaic modules for long term operation in open air, ground applications.
The IEC 61215 standard dates back to 1993 and has gone through many iterations, with the latest 2016 edition containing 19 tests designed to confirm the quality of solar module engineering.
How is the damp heat test performed?
The damp heat test is performed by applying 85 °C ± 2 °C with a relative humidity of 85% for an uninterrupted cycle of 1,000 hours, which is well over 1 month.
1,000 hours of damp heat testing at 85 °C and relative humidity of 85% equates to multiple years of outdoor exposure. The panel to be tested is placed in a damp heat test chamber in which the panel is exposed to these conditions.

The internal material is 304 stainless steel, mirror surface, rust-proof to high and low temperature and moisture corrosion; this room is designed for panels up to 1.2 m. If your solar panel size is very large, you can also choose a walk-in test chamber, or you can choose a custom size.
The temperature of the damp heat test chamber is set at a fixed value of 85℃, and the humidity is set at a fixed value of 85%. The test procedure has been designed in advance. The tester only needs to place the test piece in the workroom and turn on the equipment to run by itself.

A standard test hole, whose diameter is 50 mm, used to energize the test piece, is provided with a sleeve inside to prevent moisture from entering the insulation layer.
