The Ultraviolet Light Test Machine can simulate the effects caused by light and dew. The UV aging test chamber uses ultraviolet light to simulate the effect of light, and uses condensed moisture to simulate rainfall and dew, and the product to be inspected is placed in a certain temperature of light for testing.

Heating and Steam
1. The structure of the UV test chamber is made of corrosion-resistant 304 stainless steel metal materials, including ultraviolet lamps, water storage devices, test sample racks, time operating equipment and indicators.
2. The wattage of the lamp is 40w, and there are 8 lamp tubes on both sides.
3. Every four lamps are installed in a row, assembled in two rows, and each row of lamp tubes is assembled in parallel.
4. The test sample is fixedly installed at a position 50mm away from the short-distance parallel surface of the lamp surface. The test sample and the bracket form the inner wall of the chamber, and the back is exposed to cold air at room temperature. Due to the temperature difference between the test sample and the UV aging test chamber. To make the condensation stage on the surface of the test sample produce stable condensation conditions, the test chamber should generate natural air convection from the bottom through the outer wall of the chamber and the channel of the test sample.
5. The steam is caused by the water pan at the bottom of the heating chamber, the depth of the water level shall not be greater than 25mm, and there is a water supply device, which needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent scale formation.

2. Application Areas of The Ultraviolet Light Test Machine
UV test chambers are widely used in industries where color stability, material durability, and weather resistance are critical performance indicators. In sectors such as coatings, plastics, textiles, and packaging, additive colorants significantly enhance appearance and functionality but are highly sensitive to environmental factors-especially ultraviolet radiation.
Prolonged UV exposure can cause fading, discoloration, chemical degradation, and surface damage, directly affecting product quality and service life. Therefore, evaluating material performance under simulated sunlight conditions is essential before products are released to the market.
LIB's UV Test Chamber is designed to simulate UV radiation, temperature, humidity, and moisture cycles, enabling comprehensive assessment of material aging behavior in a controlled laboratory environment. The chamber complies with international standards such as ASTM G154 and ASTM G155, ensuring accurate, repeatable, and industry-recognized test results.
Typical Application Industries
Plastics and polymer materials (automotive parts, housings, consumer products)
Coatings and paints (architectural, industrial, marine coatings)
Textiles and synthetic fibers (outdoor fabrics, protective clothing)
Packaging materials (plastic films, containers, labels)
Automotive and transportation components
Outdoor furniture and building materials
Key Performance Aspects Evaluated
Color fading and color shift
Chemical stability of pigments and dyes
Resistance to heat and moisture
Surface cracking, chalking, or degradation
By accelerating the aging process, LIB UV test chambers help manufacturers predict long-term outdoor performance, optimize formulations, shorten product development cycles, and ensure consistent product quality.

Step 1: Sample Preparation
Cut plastic samples to standard dimensions (commonly 75 mm × 150 mm). Ensure the sample surfaces are clean and free from contaminants. Mount the samples evenly on the stainless-steel sample holders to guarantee uniform UV exposure.
Select the appropriate UV lamp type according to the application:
| Lamp Type | Wavelength Range | Best for Testing | Standard Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| UVA-340 | 295–365 nm | Outdoor weathering | ASTM G154 |
| UVB-313 | 280–315 nm | Accelerated aging | ASTM G154 |
| UVB-351 (Optional) | 300–350 nm | Indoor materials | ASTM G154 |
Step 2: Test Parameter Setting
Set test parameters based on the plastic material's intended application and performance requirements. Typical settings include:
| Irradiance | 0.35 W/m² at 340 nm |
| Black Panel Temperature (BPT) | 63 ± 3 °C |
| Chamber Temperature | 50–70 °C |
| Humidity | ≥ 95% R.H. (with spray cycles) |
| Test Duration | 100–1000 hours (depending on the desired level of testing) |
Step 3: UV Exposure Cycle
Start the UV exposure cycle using LIB's programmable PID touchscreen controller. The system supports up to 120 customizable test programs, enabling precise control of irradiance, temperature, humidity, and exposure cycles.
Step 4: Moisture and Spray Simulation
The integrated water spray system simulates dew and rainfall, accelerating the aging process and evaluating the plastic's resistance to moisture-related degradation. This step is essential for materials used in outdoor and high-humidity environments.
Step 5: Result Evaluation and Reporting
After the test cycle, inspect the plastic samples for:
Color fading or discoloration
Surface cracking or chalking
Loss of gloss or mechanical degradation
Test data and reports can be exported via USB or LAN for further analysis and documentation.
Any customization can be made. LIB offers a 3-year warranty and lifetime service. Any issues that cannot be resolved during the warranty period will be replaced free of charge. 24/7 English-speaking after-sales team. Fast shipping within 7-15 days.
