IPX7 Waterproof Test is one of the waterproof grades tests determined according to the IEC60529 standard, which is commonly used internationally to define the protection of an interface against liquid and solid particles. This standard quantifies the different categories of protection, mainly for solid foreign objects entering the shell (including tools, fingers or dust, etc.) and for water (water entering the outer shell by condensation, flushing, immersion, etc. causing harmful effects on the equipment).

What are IP Code and IPX?
The two digits behind IP indicate the protective strength of the equipment shell against solid foreign objects and water intrusion. The first digit indicates the level of electrical equipment against dust and foreign objects, and the second digit indicates the degree of confinement of the equipment against moisture and water intrusion, and the larger the digit, the higher the protection level.
Sometimes, the level of protection is unknown or hasn’t been tested. In these cases, an ‘X’ replaces the numeral. IPX waterproof rating is divided into a total of 8 levels, respectively from IPX1 to IPX8, the waterproof ability is enhanced in turn. IPX0 indicates that it is not waterproof at all. IPX7 Waterproof means the device has level 7 water sealing, while its protection against dust is unknown.
IPX is the international certification system for waterproof level. It is the most common technical indicator used to mark the waterproof level of the product on outdoor, diving, and many other instruments and equipment. Headlamps, GPS, watches and other electronic devices are often marked with IPX.

IP protection levels are certified separately and have different testing methods
So, from the table above, we can know that if you see the product labeled IP68, it represents its dustproof/waterproof level, in the dustproof specification level of IP6X protection level, as for the waterproof part is IPX8 waterproof level, but ..... The IP68 label means that it is the highest level of protection specification? In fact, such a concept is wrong!
Simply put, IP68 is a level of protection, but does not mean that he covers IP 61 ~ 68 in these stages, and IPX8, IPX7, IPX6, IPX5, etc., each digital level is [separate certification] and [separate testing], and their respective test items are different!
Just because a test piece can be soaked in water doesn't mean it can be sprayed by water! Similarly, just because it can be ejected by water, does not mean it can be soaked in water!
Test methods and equipment - IPX7 Test tank
- Method name: Temporary time immersion test.
- Test equipment: Immersion tank.
- Test conditions: After the sample is put into the immersion tank, the distance from the bottom of the sample to the water surface should be at least 1 m. The distance between the top of the sample and the water surface should be at least 0.15 m.
- Test time :30 min.
