BYD Purchased Solar Photovoltaic Testing Chamber PV-04

Nov 12, 2020

PV Panel Environmental Testing (3)

In 2020, an engineer of BYD Brazil inquired about the test chamber to test PV solar panels and LIB recommended PV-04 to him. The equipment satisfies their testing requirements and they purchased it.

Solar Panel Test Chambers are designed to test Solar Panels as per IEC test standards in order to prove their performance, reliability, durability and service life. There are three test methods that are performed; Thermal Cycle Test, Humidity Freeze Test and Damp Heat Test.

LIB has many different environmental chambers including standard type and custom models for various PV panels. Following is the specification.

LIB Launches Advanced PV Module Durability Test Chamber

LIB's PV-04 Solar Panel Test Chamber is engineered to perform the three most rigorous IEC-compliant tests required for photovoltaic module qualification:

  • Thermal Cycling Test: Up to 200 cycles between –40 °C and +85 °C to assess resistance to thermal stress.
  • Humidity Freeze Test: 10 cycles from +85 °C/85 % RH to –40 °C to evaluate moisture ingress and mechanical stability.
  • Damp Heat Test: Continuous 1,000 hours at 85 °C / 85 % RH to verify long-term humidity resistance.

The chamber offers precise environmental control with a temperature range of –60 °C to +100 °C and a humidity range of 20–98 % RH. Key components include a French TECUMSEH compressor, nichrome heating elements, and a programmable LCD touch-screen controller with Ethernet and USB connectivity. It accommodates 4–12 PV panels (1 × 2 m) and complies with IEC 61215, IEC 61646, UL 1703, and ASTM E1171 standards.
